How Does the New Jeep Wrangler Compare to the Ford Bronco?
Jeep's Off-Roading Classic vs Ford's Returning All-Terrain SUV
For a certain set of Frederick, MD and Chambersburg, PA drivers, there's no substitute for a Jeep. That's especially the case when the Jeep you're talking about is the Jeep Wrangler.
Engineered using design cues drawn from the original Jeep made for World War 2, the Wrangler offers the rugged road manners you only get from a true and bona fide classic. The most recent models have especially impressed, combining the Wrangler's unparalleled abilities with modern amenities and fresh options for under the hood performance.
The Wrangler isn't the only model on the road with a solid pedigree, though. For many Waynesboro, PA drivers, the Ford Bronco holds a similar place of renown in their hearts. With Ford debuting an all-new Bronco model after a years-long hiatus, it only natural that some might wonder how the new Bronco compares to an off-roading stalwart like the Wrangler.
Let's look at what both have to offer, and why the Jeep Wrangler is still the right all-terrain SUV for you.
The foundation of any truly great SUV is a great design. And when it comes to designs, there are few out there more iconic than the Jeep Wrangler's. Immediately recognizable, the Wrangler employs classic design cues that have thrived for generations. While the Ford Bronco does offers an 11.6-inch ground clearance compared to the Wrangler's 10.8 inches, its chassis doesn't come with the same tried and tested design.
Engine and Performance Options
The Ford Bronco is no wimp when it comes to high performance. Its base engine, a 2.3-liter turbocharged inline-4, will get you 270 horsepower with 310 pounds-feet of torque. It also offers a more powerful 2.7-liter turbocharged V6 capable of 310 horsepower with pounds-feet of torque.
As good as those might sound, however, they pale compared to what you'll enjoy in a new Jeep Wrangler. For its base engine, the new Wrangler uses a 285 horsepower 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 that can likewise dish out 260 pounds-feet of torque. The Jeep Wrangler also offers options for a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4 and a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6. The turbocharged inline-4 has been rated to produce up to 270 horsepower with 295 pounds-feet of torque. The turbodiesel V6, meanwhile, can put out 260 horsepower and 442 pounds-feet of torque.
The new Jeep Wrangler also offers an all-new hybrid powertrain. With a 25-mile battery driving range and a peak performance up to 375 horsepower with 470 pounds-feet of torque, the Wrangler can hit highs the Bronco can only dream of from afar.
And if you're looking for superior traction control? The Wrangler's 4x4 system is legendary for its power and prowess.
Features, Technology, and Safety
Both the new Jeep Wrangler and Ford Bronco offer solid equipment options. With the Wrangler, you'll enjoy options including the Uconnect infotainment media suite and an advanced safety collection complete with blind-spot warnings, forward collision warnings, adaptive cruise control, and automatic emergency braking.
The Ford Bronco's equipment suite is largely comparable, although it doesn't include the Wrangler's open-air driving option! Both SUVs can seat up to five.
Why is the New Jeep Wrangler the Right SUV for Me?
